ShutterBooth: A New Strategy in Improving Employee Morale

I don’t have to tell you about the impact the economy has had on employee morale. Lay-offs. Loss of benefits. No bonuses. No raises. Longer hours. Yes, it’s been a tough couple of years.

I recently joined the Cary Chamber of Commerce and got into an interesting discussion with a human resources manager from a local company. She told me how bad employee morale has gotten at her company and how the stress level is at an all-time high. Obviously, stress is something you want to eliminate as it hurts job performance, increases absenteeism and can impact the health of the employees.

How bad has stress gotten?About one-third of workers report high levels of stress…a growing number of people view their jobs as the number one stressor in their lives…and three-quarters of employees believe the worker has more on-the-job stress than a generation ago. Evidence also suggests that stress is the major cause of turnover in organizations.

What I remember most about the previous jobs I have had is not the times that I had a lot of stress. In fact, it’s just the opposite…I remember the fun times.

One of my goals for joining the Cary Chamber was to reach out to local companies and explain how involving ShutterBooth at a corporate event is a cost-effective and highly-effective way to increase morale.  Hopefully in these times of cutting costs, organizations will remember that they still have to take steps to please their most important assets — their people.
