Philadelphia’s Most Unique Places To Get Married

So last week we gave you a list of the top 5 places in the Philadelphia area to get married. And what a great list it was if we do say so ourselves. But we know that not everyone is into the traditional fairy-tale wedding. We know that some couples want something a little more unique, a little more out of the ordinary.

So if you fall into that category, then get your pen and paper ready, sit attentively and take active notes, and get ready for our list of “Philadelphia’s Most Unique Places To Get Married.”

Oh and if you aren’t one of these couples then exit out of this window and stop reading this instant. Totally kidding, please continue to read, we promise it’s a pretty awesome list.

The Trust Venue

Located in Old City, Philadelphia (just blocks from the Shutterbooth Philly headquarters) is The Trust Venue. What makes this place so unique? Well we could tell you that it was constructed in 1902, and is a staple in the deep rooted history of Philadelphia. Or we could tell you that it is where 7 strangers were picked to live together for MTV’s “Real World Philadelphia!” Like, OMG!

In all seriousness, Trust will give guests the wedding of their dreams. With a perfect blend of modern amenities and historical style, Trust will make for a 5 star experience.

Moshulu

We’ve all seen it, driving down Columbus Blvd. the eye catching vessel that sits upon the waters that separate Philadelphia from New Jersey. In its heyday, Moshulu has roamed the waters from Europe to Australia, from Africa to America, hauling everything from copper to lumber. Today Moshulu is the largest four-mast sailing ship that is still afloat, and has been operating as one of Philadelphia’s top event destinations since its opening in 1974.

So how does getting married on this historic ship sound? Pretty awesome right? So drop anchor on the love of your life(not literally), and have a once in a lifetime wedding aboard the Moshulu that you and your guests will never forget.

The Franklin Institute

It was Benjamin Franklin himself that said, “Marriage is the most natural state of man, and the state in which you find solid happiness…”

Now when The Franklin Institute opened in 1824 to honor the great Benjamin Franklin by creating a hub for science technology and education, we highly doubt that holding immaculate wedding receptions were in the blueprints. However, the breathtaking confines of The Franklin Institute make for the perfect establishment to hold your special event. Guests can party the night away under the watchful eye of Benny Franklin himself.

The Adventure Aquarium

Picture this. Your friends and family gathered for your special day. You are looking into the eyes of the person you are about to spend the rest of your life with. And then, just before you are about to say those iconic words “I do,” a viscous man-eating hammerhead swims above you in a shark infested tank. Pretty romantic right?

Okay maybe we went about that a little wrong. But in all honesty The Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ is an absolute awesome place to tie the knot with the love of your life. Couples can choose from several incredible locations within the aquarium, and even choose to say “I do” with the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Philadelphia skyline looming behind.

Not to mention, aside from all of your friends and family, you’ll have countless members of nature’s most fascinating creatures as witnesses to your nuptials.
