The Strange, The Weird, and Downright Unusual

Hiding Knives: In Germany, Halloween is regarded as a time in which the veil between the world of the living and the dead is weakened. So it can be assumed, that a number of the dead may return and walk among the living for this brief time. Playing on the side of caution, all knives are hidden away to ensure the safety of both the living and the dead.

Chairs By The Fireside: On Halloween in the Czech Republic chairs are placed by the fireplace. One chair is placed for each of the living relatives in the family as well as those who have deceased.

All Soul’s Procession: A journey of 100,000 souls takes place on Halloween in Tucson Arizona. Similar to “Dia de los Muertos,” this procession honors the lives of those who are no longer among the living. Participants of this event are encouraged to adorn masks, costumes, and floats that honor the dead.
