Former Flannel Mill Now One of Triad’s Best Venues

Revolution Mill Studio, located in Greensboro, N.C., is a unique and gorgeous venue for wedding receptions.  Originally built in 1898, Revolution Mill became the first flannel mill in the region and eventually grew to be the world’s largest flannel production facility by the 1930s.  The mill remained in operation until 1982 and is now a nationally recognized historic textile mill.

The mill was purchased by Revolution Studios, LLC, in February 2003 and has since undergone a multimillion dollar renovation process converting the facility into office and event space.  With its maple floors, massive pine columns, 15-foot ceilings, and large windows, this 600,000 square foot building is breathtaking. The event space has the capacity to seat 350 people and standing room for 500.  Dressing rooms, kitchen, lounge and bar area are all available at the mill.

Big Weekend for Former Tarheel Hoopsters

ShutterBooth got to help celebrate the wedding of not one — but two former Tarheels last weekend.

At the Carolina Club, Ashley Heath married Jason Capel, one of the stars for the UNC basketball team in the early 2000s. And, down in Wilmington, ShutterBooth was there for the wedding of Ashley Love and Wes Miller, a guard from the 2005 championship team.  Joining Wes and Ashley were a bunch of former players including Jawad Williams, Sean May, Marcus Ginyard, Tyler Hansborough and many more.

Congrats to the newlyweds!

Photos from the weddings are now on www.shutteryou.com.

ShutterBooth and All Around Raleigh DJ Jam at Kacey and Matt’s Wedding

July ended with ShutterBooth helping Matt and Kacey celebrate their new life together. The event was July 30 at The Cotton Room in Durham – it was our first time at that gorgeous facility. Photos from the event are now on www.ShutterYou.com.

It was also our first time working with All Around Raleigh DJ. Owner Eric X Hodgden kept the dance floor busy all night and gave the reception a great flow. Happy, dancing guests results in some great photos in the ShutterBooth!

Vendor Profile: Sisters’ Garden

One of ShutterBooth’s home away from homes this year has been Sisters’ Garden in Raleigh. Sisters’ Garden, located on 2400 East Millbrook Road in Raleigh is a beautiful venue available for wedding ceremonies, receptions or both.
Sisters’ Garden is the on-site venue for Sisters’ Catering Company, one of the largest privately owned catering companies in North Carolina. Catering was nominated by Catering Magazine as a finalist in their annual Catering Company of the Year competition — and I can tell you from first-hand knowledge that their food is AWESOME.
The outside patio at Sisters’ Garden next to the waterfall makes for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony. In the event of inclement weather, the patio can be covered entirely by a tent.
Inside, guests enter into a beautiful lobby that features a black-and-white checkered floor and a dazzling chandelier over the grand piano. The ballroom at Sisters’ Garden has 17-foot ceilings and several windows looking out onto the patio, making it a popular location for wedding receptions in the triangle. Wedding guests can dance the night away on the spacious dance floor and step off onto the newly installed carpet.
To book your special event at Sisters’ Garden, call 919-872-2100 or visit their website http://www.sisterscatering.com/index.html.

Know Who You Are Doing Business With!

You have all heard “you get what you pay for” and “if it sounds too good to be true than it usually is.”

The most important thing you can do when selecting a vendor is research. Find out if they have been around, have references, back-up equipment, trained and experienced personnel, etc.

Last year I did a favor for another vendor and then that company left town. It was a company that I didn’t do my research on. I was guilty of not learning more about them. It was because of this that we became accredited with the Better Business Bureau. If I looked up that one company on the BBB, I would have found out they had an F rating.

So when are you conducting your research, Check out the company with the BBB. You can see our rating by clicking here.

ShutterBooth in Action

Craig Carpenter of Luster Studios took some awesome shots of the ShutterBooth in action recently at Katie and Ben’s wedding, which was held at the beautiful Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill. Check them out!

One of our Favorite Photographers: Luster Studios

Craig Carpenter of Luster Studios is one of the most popular wedding photographers in North Carolina — and he is also one of ShutterBooth’s favorite photographers in the Raleigh-Durham area.  He is able to capture award-winning images through his creativity and photojournalism and he works his tail off.

We have had the opportunity to work with Craig on several occasions and have witnessed first-hand how he creates “art” at a wedding. Plus he has taken some awesome photos of us in action as well!

Craig adds a personal approach and artistic understanding of light is what makes him unique.  He also has a ton of fun at weddings which make guests feel comfortable around him (if they even know he is there).  He can be unobtrusive and yet still capture planned and spontaneous moments that show off his client’s true personalities.  One bride described him as “incredibly flexible, professional and available from the get-go.”

Craig Carpenter of Luster Studios is currently scheduling one year prior to the event.  To contact Craig, call (919) 951-9196 or email him at craig@lusterstudios.com.

Highgrove Estate Welcomes Wedding Season After Renovations

One of the nicest indoor-outdoor venues ShutterBooth has worked at is known as “an estate like no other” — Highgrove Estate in Fuquay-Varina, just twenty minutes south of Raleigh.  Highgrove is an elegant southern mansion on six acres of land with an open-air patio overlooking Laurel Lake.  This is one gorgeous location for a wedding!

The pergola and gardens make a gorgeous backdrop for any ceremony.  The lawn can hold up to 200 chairs.  If you prefer a more intimate affair, a fireside ceremony inside the house is also available.  Inside the house there are bridal suites and private restrooms that are perfect for getting ready for the big day.  Highgrove Estate has recently undergone major renovations including new landscaping and a paint job.  The tent has been replaced with a brand new Garden Ballroom that features vaulted ceilings, chandeliers, and a fireplace.

Highgrove Estate is a full service facility that provides all food freshly prepared on site.  Menu items include savory meats, fresh seafood, imported cheeses, soups and salads, seasonal vegetables, warm breads, and signature drinks.  To book your special event at Highgrove, call 919-552-6154 or email Susan Blakesley at susan@highgrove-nc.com — and for more information on Highgrove Estate check out their website www.highgrove-nc.com.

Reality Show in ShutterBooth’s Future?

Reality Show producers recently stopped by for two days of filming at Midtwon Place, ShutterBooth’s new home, to tape footage to promote to television executives for a potential reality show. Midtwon Place is unique in that it is the home to numerous wedding vendors and the interaction between the various professionals.

Stay tuned to find out more information if this becomes a “reality.”
