Sofitel Hotel Holiday Party

It’s never to late to talk about the holidays. It is the most wonderful time of the year after all, isn’t it? We at Shutterbooth think so, which is why we love reliving it. Luckily for us, we were fortunate enough to have been invited to numerous holiday celebrations this past season. And for us, it seems like an act of treason to talk about so many splendid holiday parties we attended without mentioning the lovely folks at Sofitel Philadelphia, who welcomed us into their halls for their annual holiday party they throw for their legion of loyal employees.

Located in the heart of the Rittenhouse district of Center City, Sofitel Hotel blends French elegance with Philadelphia charm to create a perfect combination of class and sophistication.

That sophistication was on full exhibition when the gracious employees of Sofitel packed the confines of the luscious Paris Room to bring in the holidays right.

The beautiful Paris Room was enveloped in hues of deep blues and radiant whites, creating an arctic wonderland that was fitting of the season’s theme.

In the spirit of the “season of giving,” Sofitel decided to bring a little more holiday cheer to their employees this year. Aside from throwing this fantastic party, each employee in attendance was given a $25 gift card as a token of the hotel’s appreciation for being such tremendous staff!

It was an absolute honor to have brought in the holidays with the folks at Sofitel Hotel. We at Shutterbooth want to wish them a very Joyeux Noel from the bottom of our hearts!

Jenny and John’s Wedding

There are parties, and then there is what Jenny and John put together on January 19th. A party so incredible, so extravagant, so magnificent, so… Okay, you get the point. But this wedding was so memorable that it just seems near impossible to find the right adjectives to do it justice. But try as we might, we will use our best collection of words, pound away at our keyboard, and vigorously attempt to whisk you away to a wedding so magical that it left a lasting impression to all those in attendance.

Held at the historic Phoenixville Foundry, a beautifully breathtaking structure that has been standing since 1882, Jenny and John partied well into the night surrounded by all of their family and friends. The Foundry’s 18,000 square feet of event space was used to full potential, as the near 360 guests in attendance filled the spacious dance floor. Seriously, this baby was packed. In fact, we are pretty positive that the floors of this architectural masterpiece were shaking during the Cha-Cha slide.

Now we’ve seen plenty of heartfelt moments during the numerous amounts of weddings we’ve attended. And thanks to our secret stash of tissues that we store in our Shutterbooth, we make it successfully through the night without looking like we watched a Nicholas Sparks movie marathon.

However, it was one special moment that had us on the brim of becoming blubbering fools. It wasn’t the first dance, or even when they cut the cake. It wasn’t anyone’s toast, or anything in particular that anyone said.

It was what the bride wore…

The beautiful bride was donning the same gown that her own mother wore the day she was married. Most brides want nothing to do with this tradition, they prefer to wear a dress that fits today’s modern trends in fashion. But we can proclaim first hand, without a shadow of a doubt, that Jenny looked as gorgeous in that dress as her mother did when she wore it all those years ago.

We at Shutterbooth were absolutely honored to have been included in Jenny and John’s special day. We wish them years upon years of happiness together.

Limerick Golf Club Holiday Mixer

Santa steps up to the green. The entire crowd is hushed as they can feel the magnitude of this shot. Santa needs to sink this putt if he wants to win the championship. He reads the green, he addresses his ball. The atmosphere is electric as the crowd awaits his shot. Santa gingerly slaps the ball with the face of his club. The ball is traveling down the slope of the green, passing under the obstacle of a reindeer decoration until…

YES! It’s in the hole, Santa nailed it! He has won it all!!!

We bet you are sitting there thinking “what on earth are they talking about?” Well, what we are talking about is the Limerick Golf Club Holiday Mixer, which among other attractions, had a Christmas themed mini golf hole for their guests to play on. And it just so happened that Santa himself took place in the activities, and  heard a boisterous roar from the spectators after he sunk his putt.

Limerick Golf Club, located just minutes from King of Prussia, has been serving golfers with their beautiful 18 hole golf course since 1965. In May of 2012, the Flatley family took over the course, and wanted to invite local businesses in the area to their renovated club to network, and put on display all the excellent changes Limerick plans to offer for future generations.

Along with extensive changes made to improve the quality of the course, they also want the community to know that Limerick will be the premier spot to hold all of your intimate events. From weddings to birthdays, Limerick Golf Club has all the modern amenities to make your special events a day to remember.

It was an honor to attend this awesome event with both Santa and the gracious staff at Limerick. Now if you’ll excuse us, we need to practice our golf game for the upcoming season.

Lovesick Expo Philly 2013

What do you get when you mix together burlesque, live music and some of the coolest vendors Philadelphia has to offer? Better yet, throw in some great food, delicious beer and on-site fashion makeovers into the equation. Oh and did we mention that there was also some incredible giveaways? Okay now if you did the math correctly, added up all the tangibles and made the right calculations, then the solution should be obvious.

What you get is the best darn wedding expo this side of the country has to offer!

For the third year in a row, the Lovesick Expo, a wedding event geared at the cool at heart, made its routine stop in Philadelphia on January 13th, at the World Live Cafe. And we at Shutterbooth were lucky enough to have been featured at the event among an array of amazing other local vendors from the Philadelphia area.

The Lovesick Expo features a plethora of unique wedding ideas, hand-crafted and eco-friendly goods, and elite local talent that appeal to couples that are aiming to think outside of the box when planning their wedding.

Unlike traditional Expos, Lovesick is proud to be an earth friendly, guy friendly, and same-sex couple friendly event.

We had an absolute blast being a part of this amazing event. For those of you who missed it, we say shame on you. No totally kidding. Have no fear friends, they will be back next year.

And from our experience attending this event, it seems to us that it gets bigger and better every year they make their stop in our lovely city.

Lower Bucks Hospital Christmas Celebration

They say the holidays come but just once a year. Once that clock strikes midnight on December 31st, the Christmas music on the radio ceases, the decorations come down, and you start seeing bathing suits on sale in most of the department stores. No fooling, we literally saw bathing suits already on sale. However, for the wonderful staff of the Lower Bucks Hospital, the holidays came twice this season as they celebrated the festivities at the enormously elegant Mansion on January 5th.

Located in Vorhees, NJ, The Mansion is the premier event facility in the area. The sheer size of the grounds is breathtaking alone, but it’s the state-of-the-art amenities, elegant decor, and absolute terrific staff that leaves you mesmerized in its ambiance.

The folks at the Lower Bucks Hospital used this spacious venue to its full potential as they didn’t use just 1 floor, or even two floors, but used all 3 floors to throw their amazing holiday party.

On the first floor, guests were treated to all-star dining, as well as a full service open bar.

On the second floor, guests had the opportunity to get their gambling on with 2 casino rooms, stocked with slot machines, card tables, and even a roulette station. The second floor also had a decadent desert buffet, a nightclub room with constant dance music blasting through the speakers and not just 1, but 2 Shutterbooths to adhere to the over 700 guests that were anxious to get their pictures taken on this festive night.

And last, but certainly not least, the third floor, which had a live band that was rocking out all night long while the staff at Lower Bucks danced the night away.

Yes maybe the holidays do come only once a year, but if the staff of Lower Bucks Hospital get treated to a party of this stature, then every day must be like a holiday for them.

It was an absolute pleasure to party with the staff of the Lower Bucks Hospital, and we can’t wait till’ next year to do it all again!

Best Of Shutterbooth Philly 2012: Gemma & Tony’s Wedding

Our “Best of Shutterbooth Philly” list continues with the breathtaking wedding of Gemma and Tony Herman on October 5th, 2012.

This gorgeous couple tied the knot in front of friends and family on the rustic grounds of Normandy Farm in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. The Farm, which has historic significance dating back to over 300 years, is the perfect location to hold your intimate occasion. Named and designed after the beautiful territory of Normandy, France, the immaculately manicured grounds provide for an elegant affair, no matter what requests your party may have.

Gemma and Tony combined the rural countryside of the Farm with a touch of their own modern attitude. From the professional photography taken by Tyler Boye, to the old-fashioned, era-appropriate wedding invitations, it is clear that tremendous effort went in to every last detail.

There is one facet of this ceremony that must be brought to attention. Take a look at the groomsmen. Notice anything different? Anything a little out of the ordinary? Yeah, you see it now right? All of the groomsmen are rocking a pair of Converse “Chuck Taylor’s.” If you’re a man reading this, we don’t have to explain to you why this is awesome. But for all the ladies out there, who obviously have their own qualms with high heels, wearing dress shoes for multiple hours at a time is just the absolute worst. All we’re saying is, these guys better have thrown the groom one heck of a bachelor’s party.

After the couple officially tied the knot, and uttered the iconic “I do” to each other, they made their way into one of the several sophistically-fashioned, classic ballrooms for their reception. There, they danced to the beautiful melody of Regina Spektor’s “Real Love” under the tearful eyes of friends and family. And if that didn’t get the water works flowing, the magnificently edited video reel, which documented the the couple’s history together, had the room grasping for tissues.

We were absolutely honored to have been invited to this charming ceremony. We at Shutterbooth wish all the luck in the world to Gemma and Tony as they venture into their life together.

Best Of Shutterbooth Philly 2012: “Tina and Jacobus Wedding”

2013 is here, and for good or for bad, 2012 is now your favorite puppy calendar sitting in the trash. For us at Shutterbooth, we are sad to see 2012 go. We were honored to have been involved in some truly magnificent events, and meeting even more incredible people. People that remind us everyday why we got into this business to begin with.

As excited as we are about the new year, and all the awesome events we have lined up, we want to take a look back at some of the wonderful events that we were a part of over the past year.

So with that being said, the folks at Shutterbooth Philadelphia proudly presents the first installment of “The Best Of Shutterbooth Philly 2012.”

With so many outstanding events, it was immensely difficult to choose which events would make it to our ‘Best Of” list. However, there was one event in particular that we knew would have no trouble at all making it to the tops of our list. That event, my friends, was the lavishly beautiful wedding of Tina DeRubeis and Jacobus Van Zyl.

The beautiful couple tied the knot on October 6th, 2012 at the beautiful Wyndham Garden Hotel in front of all of their friends and  family. The outdoor confines of the Wyndham Garden were perfect for this breathtaking fall wedding. The leaves were turning to a crisp golden brown, lit candles were floating atop the gorgeous pool that sat adjacent to the reception, and every eye in house was focused sternly on the love that bloomed before their eyes.

Now we at Shutterbooth love when we see unique ideas. Ideas that make our head turn, and our bodies ceased in astonishment. There was one item, actually, several items at this glamorous wedding that practically made our neck snap.

Sitting in front of every guest was a bottle of beer. We know what you’re thinking, you’re thinking “big deal, every wedding has beer.” Right? WRONG! The beer at this wedding had custom labels featuring the bride and groom on the sticker. And if you think that that isn’t cool enough, the bride and groom brewed the beer themselves. No, we kid you not. Coolest thing ever? you bet your blog reading tushies it was.

It was an honor to be a part of Jacobus and Tina’s special day, and we wish them all the luck in their journey through life together.

Woodcock Washburn 2012 Holiday Party

The holidays came early this year for the folks at Woodcock Washburn when they celebrated their holiday party on December 14th, at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton hotel, located just across from City Hall in Center City, Philadelphia.

What exactly is Woodcock Washburn? Well we could tell you that they are a law firm that specializes in intellectual property law, and that  their clients are some of the most well known companies and organizations around the country. Or we could tell you that these guys and gals sure do know how to put on one heck of a holiday party.

But before we get into that, let us just say that the Grand Ballroom at the Ritz-Carlton certainly does live up to its name. The absolutely breathtaking room was the perfect setting to hold this lavish event. Between the live performance of Christmas tunes that serenaded the room, to the Christmas cookie decorating station, it is no wonder at all why the employees at Woodcock Washburn are as fun and gracious as they were.

We were delighted to be apart of their holiday party, and we hope the great folks at Woodcock Washburn had a safe and happy holidays.

Westin Hotel Holiday Party

What does Motown and the holidays have in common? Absolutely nothing. But somehow the folks at the Westin Hotel were able to combine the two for one awesome Motown themed holiday party just for their employees.

Held inside the Westin’s majestic Grand Ballroom, the party was decorated head to toe with Motown records hanging from chandeliers and placed upon dining tables. Westin employees were dancing the night away to the smooth sounds of classic Motown hits as the DJ spun favorites from the Jackson Five, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and so many more.

Now aside from all the shaking of grove thangs’, the true spirit of the holidays were in full form as the Westin Hotel show their appreciation for their employees with loads of gifts and prizes. Among them were vacations to New York, Detroit, other luxurious hotels in Philadelphia, and some of the latest and hottest electronic devices.

It was a pleasure to boogie in the holidays with Westin Hotel and we can’t wait to do it all over again next year.

Chad’s 40th Bday Hillbilly Hootenanny

We laced up our boots, tightened our spurs, strapped on our chaps….and no we weren’t at a Village People reunion concert. We were at Chad’s Hillbilly Hootenanny down at the Urban Saloon.

Located in the roughest, toughest part of Philadelphia(or the beautiful Art Museum/Fairmount neighborhood, however you choose to describe the area), Urban Saloon is where all the cowpoke go to wet their whistles. We At Shutterbooth were absolutely honored to be included at Chad’s western theme birthday party.

Unlike the desolate, gloomy saloons of the Wild West, Chad’s friends and family filled the joint to the brim. Country music was blasting through the speakers, cowgirls were line dancing atop the bar, and thanks to a cowboy boot ice sculpture(which functioned as a shot dispenser), there wasn’t a dry mouth in the house.

We may have even seen a few jars of moonshine circulating through the crowd, but don’t worry we didn’t see nuttin’.

Luckily there were no brawls over a loose card game, no one was challenged to a duel, and from what we saw, everyone had a darn good time celebrating Chad’s big day.
