Valentine’s Day 101: Do’s and Don’ts

If you read our previous post, which we know you have, then you know that a lot of thoughtful planning must go into creating the perfect Valentine’s Day. Every second of the day must be carefully prepared in order for the holiday to reach its full romantic potential. Now we certainly can not give you the immaculate itinerary for a flawless Valentine’s Day, because let’s face it, every couple is different. But what we at Shutterbooth can give you is a series of helpful hints that will assist you when planning, and attending your V-Day activities.

Okay, so in our previous post we gave you some guidelines for planning the dinner portion of your V-Day. For reference, you can click here to review that lesson. But today, we will focus on so much more. We will dig deep into the very soul of Valentine’s Day. What makes this day special? What makes it tick? We will find the very roots of this holiday and yank them from the soil, and we will replant the seeds with our own knowledge and…Okay, maybe that’s a bit much. But we just love this day, and we want this day to be perfect for all our Philadelphia couples. So with that being said, we hope you’re ready, because after hours of relentless research we are proud to present our “Do’s and Don’ts” for this year’s Valentine’s Day.

Don’ts:

1. Don’t Forget:

Probably the worst thing you could do is forget this day. In fact, take out your phone right now and set a reminder for every 15 minutes starting now until the clock strikes midnight on February 13th. You’re welcome.

2. Don’t Buy Appliances:

Nothing says romance like a new dishwasher. See the irony? Don’t be practical, be spontaneous, be extravagant, be romantic when buying your soulmate their V-Day present.

3. Don’t Repeat:

Whatever amazing plans you made last year for Valentine’s Day, wipe them out of your mind forever, because it has literally been done before. Be original, come up with something new, and exciting. Treat the love of your life to a night she’ll never forget.

Do’s:

Do Write a Love Letter:

Grab a pen, a piece of paper, maybe even a splash of cologne/perfume for a special touch and spill your soul onto the page. Let your words express your emotions, but be sure to have tissues handy, trust us on that one.

Do Turn Off Electronics:

We know it may be hard to leave the digital world behind for even just a minute, but trust us, a little break from technology may be just what the love doctor ordered. Take a break from the emails, texts, tweets, and Facebook notifications and just embrace each other’s company.

Do the Little Things:

Send an oversized Teddy Bear to their work, throw some rose petals on the bed, make a homemade V-Day card. It’s the little things that can make a Valentine’s Day one for the record books. Just make sure some serious thought is put into it!

Okay lovebirds, you’re almost ready for ole’ St. Valentine to enter your souls on February 14th. But there is still more to be done. You aren’t quite ready to be the lovesick fools we know you can be. So stay tuned, because there is plenty more to come in Shutterbooth’s “Valentine’s Day 101.”
