What are you doing tonight?

If the answer was “I don’t know” or nothing”, We will be at fun event for a great cause that you can attend. Of course you can also get a photo strip to remember it! We will be at the #CalendarGirls Launch Party tonight from 7-10.  Below is some information about the event from their facebook page. Hope to see you there!

Want to check out 12 of Columbus’ hottest gals, one for every month of the year? And raise money for a great cause? Well, you can!

The real reason we started doing this calendar? We’re a group of vain girls who wanted our pictures taken. (Don’t act so surprised!) After spotting the amazing work of a local photographer, the idea was suggested, twelve girls were found, and suddenly, a calendar was in the works. We quickly realized this would be a great way to raise money for a cause that hits close to home. Turns out we’re not just good-looking – we have big hearts too! This year, we’ve chosen to raise money to support Epilepsy research. Epilepsy affects over 3 million Americans of all ages – including one of us. So, do your part and buy a calendar to support the cause. (Or just buy one because we’re all really, really hot!)

Featured ladies of Cbus: Stephanie Lynn, Allie Lehman, Sarah Storer, Jessie Eckert, Janelle Steele, Megan Severs, Carolyn Maul, Kristen Radu, Elizabeth Solinger, Cheryl Harrison, Amy Schmittauer and Leigh Ann Ehmann.

Calendars and will be available at the launch party. For behind-the-scenes info, or to purchase your advance copy, visit: http://calendargirls2011.wordpress.com/

The Social is providing these great specials for our party:
- $3 pizzas
- $1 hamburgers
- $8 martinis (normally $9)

VideoBooth Contest Update!

This was the third time that we have run the video booth contest proved to be the closest and hardest fought contest yet! Thank you to everyone that visited us at the Columbus Bride Show at Vet’s Memorial and left a video or took a picture!  It was great to see the friends and family of both Amanda (video #9) and Jared and Andrea (video #12) come to Facebook to support their friends (and keep it mostly clean!).  Welcome to all of our new facebook fans!  The vote was so close that there is no fair way to pick just one winner (especially since it was tied when we made our official count).   So congratulations to Amanda as well as Jared and Adrea! You have both won 50% off of the ShutterBooth package of your choice.  Send me an email at brian@shutterbooth.com so that I can let you know how to claim your prizes and give you more information about the packages.  If you would like to check out the winning videos click here to go to our fan page and scroll down to find theme. If you took a picture at the show, they are all posted here on ShutterYou.

the history of photo booths

Traditionally photo booths contain a seat or bench designed to seat the one or two patrons being photographed. Once the payment is made, the photo booth will take a series of photographs. Before each photograph there would be a signal that the picture was about to be taken. After the last photograph in the series has been taken, the photo booth begins developing the film.

What a change today has made in photo booths.

Check out this old photo booth picture I found of my family, and then take a look at the current photo booth strips that we produce on ShutterYou.

What is great is the quality is better, the pictures are a little wider and the best is there is no stool in our booth so you don’t have to cram 3 people in to take a fun family shot! Now we are cramming 12 people into the booth!

It’s great to run across family mementos that are representative of what you are doing for a living now, It’s amazing how much more attention this photo got now that this is what I do.

Columbus Food and Wine Affair

BottleHeader (2)Friday, September 24, we had the opportunity to participate in the Columbus Food and Wine Affair. We had originally volunteered our time to the event and on Thursday were lucky enough to be asked to participate in the event with a booth. The Food and Wine affair was held at the Franklin Park Conservatory and was definitely the “PREMIER Grand Tasting Event of the YEAR!”

In addition to the general Grand Tasting Tickets they also offered a Special Ticket Feature that included early site entrance, valet parking, a grand tasting ticket, a champagne reception, a reserved seating area, a riedel glass and a special gift. Some new things they featured for 2010 were the Sake Tasting, a showcase of our region’s premier pastry and cake artisans, featured restaurants and Ohio wines. One of our favorite parts was getting to see our friends at Signature Wines and being able to have a glass of their Cabernet!

It was a great time for us! We not only were able to entertain the guests with our ShutterBooth but we were able to participate in the tasting event too! Brian was even given an around the neck wine glass holder from one of our ShutterBooth guests. Hopefully we will see everyone there next year!

Mid Ohio Foodbank

No one should go hungry and yet thousands of people go hungry in our community every day. For 30 years, the Mid-Ohio Food Bank been working with grocers, food companies, Ohio farmers, the USDA, and community partners to obtain food and distribute it to more than 500 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs, and senior housing sites across central and eastern Ohio.

As a member of the nation’s largest non-governmental, domestic hunger relief organization—Feeding America—their goal is to make food accessible to hungry people in their greatest times of need.

ABOUT OPERATION FEED

For 30 years, Operation Feed has raised food and funds that provide assistance to individuals and families in need. Each year, Mid-Ohio Foodbank joins forces with local businesses, schools, civic groups, and individuals to raise critically needed resources through a community-wide drive.

When everyone does a little, the Foodbank can do a lot! Mid-Ohio Foodbank distributed nearly 34 million pounds of food last year, enabling its partner agencies across 20 counties to provide food for more than 52,000 meals each day. Operation Feed efforts help stock the shelves of these food pantries, soup kitchens and emergency shelters throughout central and eastern Ohio.

Due to dramatic increases in hunger and food needs in central and eastern Ohio, Operation Feed will expand significantly over the next several years. To support this growth, the Campaign’s traditional chair/co-chair leadership structure has transitioned to a new model led by a group called the Kitchen Cabinet. Representatives from a cross-section of local organizations provide guidance for the community-wide Campaign and reach out to companies, associations, networking groups, religious organizations, government agencies and educational institutions to facilitate growth of Operation Feed into new arenas.

On Thursday, September 23, I was able to participate in a celebration party for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. It was truly a pleasure to spend a couple of hours with these amazing people! Not only did we offer ShutterBooth entertainment, but I was able to listen to all of the recognition that these companies and individuals received for their tremendous efforts, how many meals there were able to provide, in just one year!
