Roast Turkey With Wild Mushroom Gravy
If you love more of the southern flavor, then you would love a juicy, FireBird! It is a family recipe I refer to as the ‘Alcoholic Turkey.’ To make this delectable poultry featurette, you will need:
- 1 Onion (chopped)
- 1 Green Bell Pepper (chopped)
- 1 12oz Can of Lager (beer)
- 2 Whiskey Shots
- 1 Tsp Onion Powder
- 2 Tsp Cajun Seasoning
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- Turkey
Preparation:
- Brine turkey the previous night in beer, onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Remove the neck and giblets for gravy! Sit turkey for 12 hours in the brine.
- Remove turkey from brine and pad gently to dry. Place brine to the side. Apply the rest of the spices liberally under the turkey skin.
- Preheat oven to 400.
- Place the turkey UPSIDE DOWN onto cooking rack. Pour the leftover brine into the opening. Pour whiskey the same.
- Wrap cooking tray in foil. Cook until golden brown, basting bird occasionally during cooking.
Tasty Side Dishes
The turkey may take the spotlight, however, it would not make much of a dinner featurette without some delightful costars!
